Egalmoth
of the House of the Heavenly Arch
(March-April 2017)
His house symbol is a rainbow, so my challenge was to make his outfit one, too!
Mint silk wrap underskirt with three descending layers of purple, teal, and seafoam green chiffon; teal wrap tunic lined in turquoise satin; pale gold jacket with hanging sleeves, lined in crimson taffeta, with overlapping cross-body straps to the waist, trimmed in hand-beaded gold/rainbow trim; a cape of starry blue fabric hanging from a white vinyl collar studded with a rainbow of gems, secured under the shoulders with straps.
The angled overlapping garments became a repeating element.

After thinking on it a bit more and conferring with my fabric stash, some of the colors got switched around.

Lined in turquoise satin. There are some fit issues with this; because it wraps around the body it wrinkles, and so once it was lined the lining peeks over the teal fabric. Fortunately, the trim covers that!

All garments are lined but some are not hemmed, as trims have yet to be added.

Recycled from a vintage sari. Machine stitched to lining and then flipped and handsewn to fashion fabric.

Mix of precious stones (with things like sapphire replaced with cheap versions like sodalite) and vintage czech rhinestones (and a couple of plastic opals and vitrails)
