Haleth the Hunter
(November 2015)
The first costume I sewed all on my own, and my first foray into armor.
Red fake linen undertunic with beading at the collar; black overtunic with split sleeves; embossed fake leather armor lined in red fabric, consisting of a pauldron and lames, bracers, a belt, and tassets cushioned by rabbit fur; braided leather headband.

Initial design

Red linen-look undertunic
I didn't know how to alter patterns at this point, so the sleeves and shoulders are a bit tight.

Black overtunic

Mocking up pauldron and lames

Lining armor

Success! The 'rivets' are brads.

Beading the tunic

Mocking up tassets for the belt

The red tunic zips up since it's hidden, but everything else laces up in back. It taught me never to do that again! You shouldn't lace bodices unless they're very stiff.
